What are the "Standards of Representation" that lawyers talk about and how does your firm measure up?

Legal standards for a lawyer are the most important part of our professional training.

We are required to abide by the highest ethical and professional standards--and we will not compromise these standards when we represent you.  We are dedicated to providing you with the very best legal advice and service available.  We devote much time to continuing our legal education each year.  We maintain a law library and will have immediate access to a nationwide computerized system to the most current legal opinions as they are handed down.  Our office is equipped with the latest technology to ensure efficient service and prompt response.

All of this effort provides you with an assurance that we keep abreast of the legal issues while using time-saving devices to keep your expenses down.  You can be certain that we will strive to provide you with the highest standard of service and representation at reasonable and competitive cost.

I've heard about lawyer-client confidence.  What does that mean to me?

Simply stated, all information or communication from you to your lawyer is completely confidential.

The ethics of the legal profession and our office require that all information and communications from you to your attorney or to our professional staff remain completely confidential.

How can I be certain you have my best legal interests at heart?

That is our purpose in being lawyers.

We have committed ourselves to upholding your legal interests in our system of justice.  We realize that your legal questions and needs are very important to you.

Our prompt, effective and accurate representation will affect not only your future, but your view of the fairness of our legal system.  Therefore, you have our assurance that we have your best legal interests at heart.

We will zealously represent you and protect your legal rights.

How do you charge for your service?

Usually, we charge either on a contingent fee basis, fixed fee, or hourly rate.

Our time, advice and service are the only commodities we sell.  Depending upon the type of service required, our fees are based on the time we must work on the case and the legal complexity or difficulty involved in the case.

Your attorney will discuss our fees at your initial conference.  You will be told in advance how we will calculate the costs of the legal work we will do for you--and we'll put it all in writing so there will be no misunderstandings.

If a contingent fee is appropriate, this means that a certain percentage of the amount collected is set aside for our fee.  The percentage often will vary depending upon the length of involvement your case requires.  Court costs and out-of-pocket expenses can either be paid as they occur, or deducted at the conclusion of your case.

A fixed fee may be established based on the estimated time required and complexity of your case.  These fees will be discussed in further detail on your initial visit to our office.

Cases handled on an hourly rate are billed monthly.  We provide you with a statement which itemizes all services rendered during the period.

At our first conference we will discuss the appropriate fee schedule for your situation and needs.  Our standard policy requires a deposit before expenses are incurred unless a contingent fee arrangement is established.

How do I know you'll keep me informed about my case?

We must and we will. Open and candid communication is absolutely necessary to an effective client/attorney relationship.

Because your satisfaction is our objective, we ask that you discuss freely with us any concern you may have about how we are handling your case.  Frequently, we can answer your questions by telephone, which will save you time and money.  However, be assured our attorneys will discuss your legal concerns with you personally.

How do I make an appointment and what are your office hours?

We will make appointments convenient with your schedule, whenever possible.

There may be times when we are not available.  We may be in court or preparing another client's case for settlement or trial.  If your attorney is not available, rest assured that our messaging system will ensure a prompt response.

Our normal office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  If possible, please call in advance for an appointment so we will be available and can give you undivided attention.

We accept telephone calls during the workday if we are available.  We can't, however, answer calls if we are in conference.  For routine matters, please feel free to speak with a member of our staff, or leave a message with our messaging system.  We will return your call as soon as possible.
